Company History
Since 1983, Professional Datasolutions, Inc. (PDI) has been dedicated to delivering innovative software and service solutions to the convenience store retailer and wholesale petroleum marketer.
In 1986, PDI teamed with 21 companies in a joint effort to create an enterprise-level system for the convenience store industry. PDI's flexible software architecture
created a new era of openness by allowing companies to integrate their home-office pricebook to a variety of point-of-sale (POS) devices. Over the years, this
"POS independence" has facilitated numerous success stories as PDI customers have been able to create a one store operating system regardless of the POS systems employed.
In 1991, PDI was acquired by McLane Company. McLane brought tremendous market presence and financial stability
to PDI while allowing PDI to remain a separate company committed to serving all customers, regardless of their wholesale supplier.
In 2002, PDI began work on a massive project to rebuild their core software products. The result was
PDI/Enterprise. Built using 25 years of industry experience, having design input from over 200 customers, and using the latest Microsoft .NET technology,
PDI/Enterprise spans the home office, warehouses, site-level back-office and mobile applications.
For the past two decades, PDI products have steadily been the most widely installed software solution in the multi-unit convenience retail business, as well as the
implementation leader in NACS/PCATS initiatives, focused on developing and implementing technology standards.
