History

Since 1983, Professional Datasolutions, Inc. (PDI) has been dedicated to delivering innovative software and service solutions to the convenience/petroleum marketer.

In 1986, PDI teamed with 21 companies in a joint effort to create an enterprise-level system for the convenience store industry. PDI’s flexible software architecture created a new era of openness by allowing companies to integrate their home-office pricebook to a variety of point-of-sale (POS) devices. Over the years, this “POS independence” has facilitated numerous success stories as PDI customers have been able to create one store operating system regardless of the POS systems employed.

In 1991, PDI was acquired by McLane Company. McLane brought tremendous market presence and financial stability to PDI while allowing PDI to remain a separate company committed to serving all customers regardless of their wholesale supplier.

Since 1991, PDI has grown exponentially. Almost 20 new products have been introduced ranging from data warehouse/decision support systems to web-based training and applicant tracking. Also, PDI has been a thought and implementation leader in the NACS/PCATS initiatives to develop and implement technology standards.

In 2002, PDI began work on a massive project to rebuild their core software products. The result was PDI/Enterprise. Built using 25 years of industry experience, design input from over 250 customers, and the latest Microsoft.NET technology, PDI/Enterprise spans the home office, warehouses, site-level back-office and mobile applications.

In 2003, PDI established HR3 Solutions. HR3 Solutions was created to offer a complete suite of PDI and 3rd party applications targeted to selecting, training, and retaining the best people possible for the convenience/petroleum marketer.

PDI/Enterprise was honored with the CSP Retailers Technology New Product Award in November 2007.

Currently, PDI has over 300 companies operating more than 21,000 stores in seven countries. PDI’s vision for the future is to maximize the use of emerging technologies to create innovative solutions for their customers while remaining committed to superior customer service grounded in more than 20 years of experience and dedication to the convenience/petroleum marketer.
